The first of an ongoing series of exhibitions hosted by STALA CONTEMPORARY in Perth showing represented and guest artists whose practices involve the thematic of the particular EXPANDER series, in differing ways.
In my practice colour is content – colour is the space and vice versa – colour is non-hierarchical – it does what it does – colour as a metaphor is the clearest example of non-literal cognition. There is no way to make a perfect translation of metaphor into prose (the line of descriptive narrative). Colour cannot be explained only felt. In my response to the coloured forms of our world I enjoy a reciprocal relationship with materiality as a dialogue within non-hierarchical expressive modes that values the mystical and capricious realm of things, including colour.
